Kirk Ferentz: “We would’ve won if we scored more points.” Following Cyhawk Loss
“Not letting them get more points also might’ve helped.”
After a brutal defeat in Ames, Hawkeye head football coach Kirk Ferentz had the following to say to the Iowa community:
“I was real proud of our guys out there. I mean, their uniforms looked pristine, the celebrations were well-rehearsed, the trash talk was real mean and witty—maybe even playfully flirty when appropriate. The only thing we didn’t get around to was scoring more points.”
This marks the second consecutive year the Hawkeyes have come up short against their in-state rivals, and their first loss in Jack Trice Stadium since 2011.
Reporters from the Doily Allergen recorded Ferentz manically attempting to riff with his audience of journalists after he stopped taking questions:
“Has anyone seen Matt Campbell? I think he forgot his soup! Ha. Hahaha. HAHAHAHA!!!!... What even is a cardinal anyway?? Their mascot is named after a color? Everyone knows their jerseys are more of a deep vermillion!”
Pretty hacky, Kirk. Be better next time.
