Mysterious Shape in Stuit Hall Deemed “Probably Nothing”…
Anyone there…? We must be getting jumpy.
What? You’ve never heard of Stuit Hall? That’s okay. Named for Dewey Stuit, a previous Dean of the College who definitely died in 2008, this campus gem was constructed in 1915 as an isolation ward for the hospital. No one ever died here! Probably!
Until 1971, Stuit Hall went by the name Old Music Building and was replaced when Voxman was built. Many students have been seen both going in and coming out ever since. They even remember what it looks like when they’re not looking directly at it! Dormer windows, yellow brick, able to be captured properly on film? You’ve seen it before. It will appear empty!
What goes on there now, you might ask? By day, it’s the active and 100% real Carl E. Seashore Psychology Clinic, due to which the building earned a Gold-Certified Restoration in 2010. By night, it is a locked and monitored campus building that is OLD, and that’s why it makes those noises. Some may imagine the smiling, jolly face of Dewey Stuit behind those mesmerizing glass windows, but rest assured, it’s just the power of his memory living on. Not literally, of course!
Trust us. During the spooky season, there’s no place safer. Happy Stuit Week, everyone!
