UI Student Arrested For Coughing In Direction of TPUSA Table
Iowa City, IA — A freshman student at the University of Iowa, Lilith Foley, was tackled and detained by an ICPD SWAT team shortly after walking out of her residence hall on Wednesday.
This comes after an organization known as Toilet Paper USA at the University of Iowa begged and pleaded for ICPD to arrest her. The Nazi organization had been tabling on the T. Anne Cleary Walkway all week with a poster that read, “TR*NNIES SHOULD BE SHOT IN THE NECK!!!!” They claimed that Foley lightly coughed in the general direction of their table.
ICPD initially laughed in their faces until the group informed them that they believed Foley had been “born a man” despite wearing a dress when she coughed. Upon hearing this, ICPD instantly dropped everything they were doing and sent as many SWAT trucks as they had available to Foley’s residence hall.
A witness of the cough reported seeing TPUSA members froth at the mouth as soon as they realized they could blow a trans woman’s actions out of proportion and use the opportunity to demonize an entire group of people and ruin a woman’s life for no good reason.
ICPD detained Foley, dragged her to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, threw her into a holding cell full of men, charged her with first-degree murder, indecent exposure, and disorderly conduct, then published a police report using her deadname and he/him pronouns while specifying that she had been wearing a dress.
Upon arresting yet another trans woman, ICPD held an impromptu parade down Iowa Avenue along with TPUSA, commending themselves for keeping Iowa City free of gender insanity.
The Doily Allergen attempted to reach out to the TPUSA at the University of Iowa chairman, even going as far as finding his Grindr account and messaging him there, but he refused to comment on the situation.
It’s important to acknowledge that most of the conservative groups on campus are no strangers to retaliation (as they are full of literal Nazis). They are used to this kind of stuff, but they’ve always been quite docile about how they respond to pushback. Yet as soon as a transfeminine person stands up for herself, they do everything in their power to endanger her.
This is why these groups have such an active campus presence. They’re not trying to have “conversations,” or advertise for their events, or enable fellow conservatives to find community. To act as if they are is a waste of time. They want to ragebait students into a reaction with the hope that eventually one of those students happens to be a minority. As soon as they have fuel to demonize a trans woman, they post her face, deadname, and personal information everywhere they can, framing themselves as the innocent victims who were simply trying to give out hot cocoa. They try to frame trans people as violent because they want you to join them in harassing trans people you see on campus.
